We are currently seeking an experienced, highly skilled lawyer for an Assistant Vice President, Counsel position to provide legal support to J.P. Morgan's Wholesale Payments business. J.P. Morgan's Wholesale Payments business which is part of the Corporate and Investment Bank and is one of the world's largest providers of cash management, liquidity and escrow services.
The position will be responsible for the negotiation of the full range of Wholesale Payments contracts with our Commercial Banking and Corporate and Investment Bank clients. You will join a successful, well established team of professionals, and will be provided with extensive training upon joining followed by continued on the job support when needed. The position will be located in Chicago.
Qualifications
* Law school degree (JD)
* Attorney's legal licensing must be in compliance with the regulations of the local jurisdiction where the attorney will work prior to commencement of employment.
* A minimum of three years post-admission experience with a major law firm, financial institution or judicial clerkship.
* Familiarity with banking law and Uniform Commercial Code Articles 4 and 4A is desirable, but not required.
* All candidates for roles in the Legal department must successfully complete a conflicts of interest clearance review prior to commencement of employment.

* Strong negotiation skills;
* Strong drafting skills;
* Ability to interact effectively with clients;
* Strong organizational and project management skills;
* Proven ability to independently identify issues, analyze problems and provide viable solutions;

* Ability to work in an open plan team environment;
* Team player, confident and proactive;
* Ability to think outside the box and focus on key points; and
* Ability to exercise good judgment and work accurately under pressure.
