The Virginia Military Institute Department of Applied Mathematics invites applications for a three-year teaching post-doctoral position. This position is designed for individuals with a teaching career in mind and emphasizes teaching and scholarly activities pertaining to teaching and teaching pedagogy. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach a wide range of undergraduate courses and to participate in curriculum reform/development and projects with undergraduates. The teaching load will be four 3-credit courses per semester, but with a small number of preps. This postdoc program is ideal for those planning to teach at a four-year college or master's degree granting institution. The appointment begins 1 August 2019 and requires a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field. Candidates should demonstrate excellence in teaching undergraduate mathematics and\\or statistics. Military experience is not required. In order to receive full consideration, your application must contain a cover letter that includes a statement addressing how this fellowship aligns with your career goals, a current curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy, and three letters of recommendation, at least one of which addresses your pedagogical interests and/or teaching experience. A research statement is not required, but may be included if it addresses educational research interests and/or plans for how you envision modifying your research portfolio to include more educationally focused work.
